Campaign Launched for 'Batman' Star to Visit Colorado Shooting Victims

Reporter: ABC News Radio

Sunday, July 22, 2012

A campaign that has spread through Facebook and Twitter is asking “Batman” star Christian Bale to make the trip in his Batman costume from Gotham City to visit children injured in the Aurora, Colo., theater shooting.

“All those kids in the hospital recovering from gunshot wounds at the Batman massacre could use a visit from their real hero,” said a post on Facebook. “They need to know heroes can be real too, not just the bad guys.”

The campaign picked up steam on Twitter, using the hashtag #BaleOutAurora.

It was unclear if Bale had heard of the campaign, but the actor released a statement today expressing his condolences to victims of the shooting.

“Words cannot express the horror that I feel. I cannot begin to truly understand the pain and grief of the victims and their loved ones, but my heart goes out to them,” Bale said.

Twelve people were killed in the midnight massacre and 58 were injured. It is not known how many of the injured are children.
