Kansas Republican Senate candidate Todd Tiahrt has accused his main rival of attacking his family.
Tiahrt took offense Saturday at remarks congressmen Jerry Moran has made repeatedly. Moran has touted the fact that he has never moved his family to the Washington area.
Tiahrt told the Kansas GOP's state committee that such comments are attacks on his family and should be out of bounds in a campaign.
Moran was not at the meeting, but spokesman Dan Lara said Moran's comments were not an attack on Tiahrt's family but a criticism of Tiahrt himself. Tiahrt has described Washington as a "corrupting place."
Tiahrt has a home in the D.C.-area.
The two congressmen are seeking the seat held by U.S. Sen. Sam
Brownback, who is running for governor this year. The GOP primary
is Aug. 3.
