County Spends Extra For Jail Consultant, Two Commissioners Vote No
Unapproved spending triggered conflict among county commissioners Wednesday morning. Although the commission voted to give more money to its jail consultant, it's a bill some commissioners don't think they should pay.

This is not scientific work. The facts are clear. The jail has reached its capacity; law suits for over crowding will abound and the safety of deputies will be at risk. You have two (3) simple choices and none results in the need of a specialist group... You either farm out the overage of inmates to other counties while negotiating a decent per day per diem; privatize the jail and leave the headache to someone else; or you build another jail. I bet you that's what this study will show; and that's free advice.

since the county employees know nothing, they have to pay consultants for everything. gets expensive, but who cares, after all, its only tax money.

If they haven't produced any information then why should the citizens of Sedgwick County have to pay??
