In this month's Susan's Kids, we introduce you to Naija. She is a 14-year-old freshman in high school with big aspirations and an even bigger heart.

Naija has been in foster care for seven years. During that time, she's lived in approximately 30 different foster homes all over Kansas. She says it's hard to change her life so frequently and longs for a forever home of her own where she'll be accepted for who she is.

"I need a home that will love me and care for me and like me for me," said Naija. "I'm not really picky. I don't care if they are rich or poor... as long as they love me and they want me for me and they care. That's all that matters."

When she grows up, Naija wants to become a doctor and work with cancer patients. She says she doesn't think it's fair that people get cancer because it isn't their fault.

Naija isn't daunted by the years of school she'll need to complete to become a doctor. She looks forward to it, confident she can do it because she's so motivated to help people.

Naija doesn't have a lot of control over her life in the foster system and often turns to a higher power to guide her. She says she prays to God for a better life.

"I let him know what I really want. I want to become a doctor and I want a good family. I pray that one day he will give it to me," said Naija.
