Thousands of Kansas kids will begin their summer vacation without the one thing they need most: a family. One of those kids is a fun 10-year-old named Josh.
On a recent afternoon, Josh challenged me with his skills, wit and, even though it was his first time, a killer bowling game. He had a smile on his face from the moment I met him until the time we said goodbye.
Although moving between the many foster homes has been tough for this fifth grader, Josh is energetic, happy and a even little sassy. In the classroom, he says math is his favorite subject and he gets pretty good grades in school.
Josh doesn't like moving around and says that makes him sad inside. Still, he takes the good with the bad and says he's just happy to enjoy the blessings in his life as they come.
