Many families got together over the Easter weekend. But, hundreds of Kansas kids couldn’t do that because they don’t have a family.

One of those kids is Dakota, an energetic foster child, who happens to be a pretty good bowler too.

It’s normal. When you put a TV camera in front of a kid, they say hi to their parents. With Dakota, it’s somewhat tragic. He doesn’t have any. He has been moved around to dozens of different foster homes.

“I can’t, I can’t even keep track because there’s a lot,” Dakota said. “I’ve been in foster care since I was five.”

Today though, it’s all about having fun and this charming energetic 15-year-old knows exactly how to do that.

Dakota’s favorite subject in school is P.E. and when he grows up, he wants to join the army.

“I want to serve our country,” Dakota said. If I have to die, I rather die that way, at least I died for freedom.”

But before he turns into an adult, he wants to be a kid, a regular kid with a set of forever parents.

“That would be nice right now, especially if it was just right now,” Dakota said. “I would go head out the doors and go find the house.”
