The sights, sounds and especially smells of Christmas are alive in Augusta, Kansas. The Brick Street Bake Shoppe has been busy baking up some homemade holiday goodies. The full-service bakery is offering up special treats such as sugar cookies, gingerbread men, fresh baked bread, jellies and jams.
Brick Street Bake Shoppe owner Cindy Meinecke and husband Paul operate the full service bakery along with help from other bakery artists and their family. Cindy says her bakery's products bring back fond childhood memories.
"It brings back great memories of home and going to Grandma's house," said Meinecke.
Bakery artist Nikki Salisbury has been making an assortment of flavors in jellies and jams for 30 years. Her flavors include apple butter, strawberry, strawberry rhubarb, jalapeno, peach, plum and, one of her best sellers, raspberry jalapeno.
The Brick Street Bake Shoppe specializes in custom orders and also offers catering. The shop, which has seating for 30, is located at 507 State Street in Augusta.
