With less than four days until Christmas, some shoppers might still be scrambling to find that perfect gift. And for those who are looking for gifts made in Kansas, there's always Kansas Gift Store.
With two locations in Towne East and Towne West malls, Kansas Gift Store is a family-owned and operated business.
Most of their products are made in KAKEland and are about Kansas . The Wizard of Oz, tornadoes, and sunflowers are all major themes throughout the store.
Michael Methe, the owner of Kansas Gift Store, said he felt there was a big need for more Kansas merchandise.
"For years, we went to markets all around the country looking for products about Kansas and couldn't find them," he said. "That's when we started to create our own."
Methe also created many of the designs for the merchandise himself. An in-house art director used a large-format flat-bed printer to make the designs come to life.
Methe said he wants to buy a 3-D printer soon, so he can create bobble-heads merchandise. He said he plans on expanding a make-your-own T-shirt line for the store.
Methe also owns Brain Freeze Design and Collegiate Custom Signs. He has a licensing agreement with the major Kansas colleges, and he can put your favorite team's logo on just about anything--from pacifiers to ties to fan blades.
Methe, who has lived in Wichita for 25 years, said the Kansas Gift Store sends its products all around the country.
"The people here [in Kansas] are some of the nicest in the world," he said, "So, we want to share that with the rest of the world."
