Police are trying to figure out what led to a man being stabbed in north Wichita early Saturday morning.

The man was taken to Via Christi-St. Francis Hospital in critical condition, said Sgt. Jeff Swanson. Police were sent to the 2000 block of North Woodland -- in a neighborhood southwest of 21st and Waco -- about 3 a.m. When officers arrived, Swanson said, they found the victim with several stab wounds to his abdomen.

Swanson said the man is probably in his late 30s or early 40s. Police do not yet have any suspects in the stabbing.
