WICHITA, Kan. - An early-morning fire left a Wichita work release center with substantial damage, and forced the closing of a main east-west street for about an hour.
The fire started around 1:30 a.m. Monday in the 700 block of East 21st Street, west of Mosley. The area from Broadway to Interstate 135 was closed for about an hour.
Crews say they were about to limit the damage to one room of the business. But that room has an estimated 50-thousand dollars in damage.
The building was closed, so no one was injured by the fire. The cause of the fire was not determined as of Monday morning.
