Wichita, Kan. -- A Wichita woman woke up Sunday evening to find a man kicking in her front door.
Norma Smith now has a barricade on her front door.
"It's solid nobody's going through that door. It would take dynamite at this point,” Smith said.
The story behind the barricade starts with a Sunday nap that was cut short.
"I woke up to this thundering noise in the front of the house,” Smith said.
"I didn't understand what was going on because the whole wall was shaking. It wasn't just the door, it was the whole wall,” Smith continued.
The noise was coming from a man kicking in her front door, but she says she didn't realize that until he was already inside.
"The whole door swung open and he's behind it and he comes in with the door. I'm still trying to figure out what's happening and he said, 'Oh I'm sorry.' He said this was his brother's house,” Smith said.
And that's all he said before running away and jumping into a car that was waiting for him outside. Confused? So was Norma.
She tells KAKE News she recently got back from a long trip and she thinks the two men knew she went away, but didn't know she had already come back.
"Oh I think he was terrified to see me. I don't think he wanted to see me at all because he just turned and ran. Well he apologized first,” Smith said.
Smith tells us she is very thankful the would be burglar ran scared. She wasn't hurt, nothing was stolen and she's got a new door that no one could kick in.
The man that kicked in her front door was last seen driving away in an older model dark blue Suburban.
