A woman and teenage girl are dead following a crash Sunday afternoon in southwest Kansas.
The crash happened just before 3 p.m. Sunday on U-83, about 15 miles north of Liberal in Seward County.
According to the Kansas Highway Patrol, a southbound Ford pickup truck went left of center into the northbound lane - right into the path of an Oldsmobile sedan. The driver of the car swerved into the southbound lane to avoid a crash, but at the same time the truck also swerved back into the southbound lane. They collided head-on.
The driver of the car, 32-year-old Gabriela Cano of Hooker, Oklahoma, was pronounced dead at the scene. A passenger, 14-year-old Evelin Cano, was rushed to an area hospital but later pronounced dead. Ten-year-old Nayeli Cano was taken to the same hospital, but her current condition is unknown.
The 31-year-old driver of the pickup truck suffered minor injuries.
The Kansas Highway Patrol is investigating.
