UPDATE: Thursday, April 10, 2013
Wichita Police say it appears a woman found Wednesday night with a gunshot wound near 21st and Hillside may have accidentally shot herself.
Police responded to 19th and Volutsia at about 8:25 p.m. for a call of a woman with a gunshot wound. Police say the wounded woman had flagged down another woman walking down the street. The 34-year-old gunshot victim told the passerby she had been shot.
She was transported to Wesley Medical Center where police say she is in serious condition.
Police say the woman was not very cooperative when they interviewed her. They say after interviewing other people in the area, they've determined she had been at her home before walking down the street. People at the home told police there was a gun missing from the home and that the woman likely accidentally shot herself.
Police say they still don't know exactly where or when the shooting occurred. They ask that if you have any information to call the investigations unit at (316) 268-4646.
