A Wichita woman is recovering after she was injured during a purse-snatching outside of a southwest Wichita convenience store.

The 37-year-old woman was walking out the back door of a QuikTrip store at Pawnee and Meridian around 5:30 p.m. yesterday when a suspect approached. The man then reportedly punched her in the face, ripped the purse from her shoulder and ran away.

Police say the suspect knocked on the door of a nearby house and asked the homeowner if he could 'hide out.' When he was denied, he continued running.

Officers are looking for a black male, approximately 25 to 30 years old and 6 feet tall. He also had a damaged right eye, either a lazy eye or the result of an injury.

Police are reviewing surveillance video from the store.
