A woman in a wheelchair suffered minor injuries last night when she was hit by a man trying to take her purse.
It happened around 9:15 p.m. Monday in the 600 block of North Topeka. The 28-year-old woman told police that she was on the sidewalk when a man approached and hit her on the legs with brass knuckles.
The suspect then grabbed her purse and tried to get away, but was tackled by the woman's boyfriend.
While he was being held down before police arrived, the suspect put something in his mouth. Not knowing what it was, police took the suspect to an area hospital for observation.
The victim was not seriously hurt.
