A storm system is bringing beneficial rain and accumulating snow to parts of KAKEland through Saturday. A blizzard warning has been issued for a few counties in NW Kansas. Other parts of NW & NC Kansas will be under a winter storm warning through Saturday afternoon.

Wichita and South Central Kansas have experienced thunderstorms Friday morning. Hail and strong winds were reported in South Central Kansas late Thursday.

The National Weather Service in Goodland downgraded a blizzard
warning covering three western Kansas counties to a winter storm
warning Friday afternoon.

The storm is producing less wind
than anticipated. But it was still expected to reduce visibility to
a half-mile to a mile in some areas from Friday afternoon into
early Saturday.

Light snow began falling in Goodland late Friday morning.

Friday night, as the system exits to the northeast, cold air will wrap around the back into north central Kansas. Salina and areas to the north and west could see light snow accumulations Friday into Saturday morning. South central Kansas including Wichita will likely see rain end as a few flurries by Saturday morning with no snow accumulation expected..
