After more than five years of leading The Salvation Army’s efforts to serve Wichitans, Major and Wichita City Commander Douglas Rowland, and his wife, Major Janet Rowland, are being relocated to The Salvation Army’s Kansas and Western Missouri headquarters in Kansas City, Missouri. The move will take place in February.
“Wichita is a compassionate community, and it’s been our pleasure to be a part of it,” said Major Rowland. “We’re sad to be leaving, but we plan to come back and visit when we can.”
"During the years the Rowlands have been in Wichita, they have successfully led the Salvation Army's charitable programs through a difficult and changing period in our local and national economy,” said The Salvation Army in Wichita’s current Advisory Board Chair Wayne Wallace.
The new Wichita City Commander, Major Glen Caddy, and his wife, Major Carole Caddy, will arrive in Wichita in February.
