It's not a good day for customers to go without power. But this evening, around 2,200 Westar customers in the Wichita area lost theirs.
Reports started coming in around 7:00 p.m. The problem has been attributed to overloads.
Westar Spokesman Shane Batchelder say crews are scattered about, but there's no official estimate on a time of power restoration.
Much of the problem seemed to be on the northwest side of town. It was reported a traffic light near Central and I-235 was out as well as much of Towne West Square. Outages were also reported at 13th and Ridge and Maple and West St.
Traffic lights were also reported out at Harry and Emporia and at Harry and St. Francis.
