WICHITA, Kan. The red carpet is being rolled out for the stars to make their walk. It's a process Wichita native Angela Cato has witnessed in person a couple times.
"That was the focal point, we were the background," Cato said.
She applied for red carpet credentials through a website, and was chosen to fill a seat in the area behind the ABC live interviews. She says the crowd was directed when to cheer, and even how to dress.
"Supposed to dress subdued, nice, but in dark colors,"Cato said. "In no way were we to detract from what was happening on the carpet."
While in LA, she was able to mingle with the celebrities, but this year, she'll be watching from here in Kansas, waiting to see who will win the coveted gold guy. We turned to one of the top men in movies here in Wichita for his best guess.
"I think 12 Years as a Slave is going to be a top contender," said Warren Theatres President Bill Warren. "I mean, it's an excellently made movie about a horrific time in American history."
That was the same answer that came on top among KAKE viewers in an online poll for best picture. Tune in Sunday night to see if your predictions match up with the results.
Red carpet coverage will start at 6 p.m. right here on KAKE.
