A Wichita man has been arrested after allegedly taking his wife from a memory care facility at gunpoint.

It happened shortly before midnight Thursday at Oxford Grand Memory Care, located in the 3000 block of North Parkdale. That's near 29th and Maize Road.

According to police, an 84-year-old man walked into the memory unit looking for his 78-year-old wife who was being treated at the facility.

He then allegedly pointed a gun at staff saying he was going to take his wife home. When they left together, employees called 911.

Officers located the man and woman in his car nearby. He was arrested for aggravated assault and aggravated kidnapping, and booked into jail. His wife was taken back to the care home.
