2013 Golf Rounds: 155,460
2012 Golf Rounds: 178,886
2011 Golf Rounds: 158,124
WICHITA, Kan.-- Golf rounds in the City of Wichita went back down to 2011 levels.
"What we did in 2012 was great but it was also kind of unprecedented. So we had a lot more competition in '13. The other golf courses taking notice and reacting to what we were doing," said Bryan Frye, president of the Wichita Park Board.
Total golf rounds at the five Wichita golf courses were 155,460 in 2013, 178,886 in 2012, and 158,124 in 2011.
"In 2013, the weather wasn't as beneficial, it was rougher, and we didn't have as many days of play, and golf is dependent upon good weather," said Frye.
Frye and other golfers are hoping that 2014 will be a better year.
"We can place the marketing. We can improve our customer service. We can have the courses in great shape. Bottom line is the weather's got to be great for good golf, "said Frye.
