Students in USD 259 Wichita will not be in class Friday, due to the winter storm. District administrators made the decision to cancel classes Thursday afternoon.

On its website, a statement said, "the cancelation was determined by three factors: the projected weather activity through the remainder of today; the dangerous conditions of side streets, sidewalks and bus stops; and the ability to clear lots and sidewalks safely by the start of school."

Only Varsity basketball games will proceed Friday night, as rescheduled, and wrestling and bowling activities will continue with schedule modifications.

School-based staff should not report to work. The following personnel should report by 9 a.m.: All District Leadership Team members, division directors, executive directors, directors and SSC-based custodial office personnel and security and dispatch personnel.

All employees assigned to snow removal crews, all building custodians and district security officers will receive specific instructions from their supervisors.
