People use Craigslist and other similar sites in a variety of ways, from buying and selling merchandise to finding lost pets.

One Wichita store owner turned to the online classifieds site in order to find the owner of an unusual item recently left on his counter: a woman's remains, with a name label on the bag.

His effort may have succeeded. Charlie Nguyen tells KAKE News relatives of the deceased have contacted him, and plan to pick up the ashes Thursday.

Nguyen is the owner of Charlie's Liquor and Smoke Shop, at the corner of Central and St. Francis near downtown Wichita. About two weeks ago, a customer left behind a small bag containing ashes and a small piece of paper. On the piece of paper was written, "Remains of Helen K. Dapron," along with dates of birth and death and (Grandma) written at the bottom.

Nguyen reviewed security surveillance, but was unable to find who mistakenly left the remains behind. When that failed, he turned to Craigslist in an effort to find the rightful owner.

An internet search for Helen K. Dapron shows that she died in 2010 and had been a resident of Youngtown, Arizona which is a suburb of Phoenix.
