WICHITA, Kan.--- Wichita Public Schools produced a new video to train teachers on a violent intruder response plan focusing on the message of Run, Hide or Fight.

"We want you to be able to be aware of your situation and when something happens, be able to respond based on those three options," said Terri Moses, Wichita Public Schools Safety Services Executive Director.

The new video is being presented to staff members throughout the district this week.

"It's great just to have that plan in place and to know that we have options if something happens," said Sherry Mariani, teacher at South High School.

Moses reminds students and teachers that fighting is a last resort.

"We are not advocating that people fight. We're saying that it is an option. Certainly, we are not training either our students or staff in fighting," said Moses.

Another key message in the training is prevention. Moses stresses the importance of programs like Speak Up and Crime Stoppers to let students anonymously share information.
