A federal jury has ruled in favor of a Wichita Police officer accused of using excessive force.

A news release from the City of Wichita said a jury rendered a verdict in favor of the officer in Federal Court today.

The civil rights case was filed by Rowana Riggs against officer Christian Cory. Riggs claimed that Cory used excessive force in violation of her constitutional rights on April 9, 2007, when he arrested her for resisting arrest, evading and alluding and other traffic charges.

The trial lasted three days.
