Wichita Police are working to determine what led up to two men being stabbed in separate incidents this weekend.

The series of stabbings began when a 27-year-old man walked into Wesley Medical Center around 12:30 a.m. Sunday with stab wounds to his hand and arm. The man told police that he had been stabbed two nights earlier, but he didn't remember exact details.

The man told officers he got into a fight with another man sometime Friday night, somewhere on North Estelle.

In the second incident, a man was stabbed in the chest along the Arkansas River. It happened shortly before 8 p.m. Saturday on the Seneca Street Bridge, east of Museum Boulevard.

When police arrived, they found the victim with another man who was trying to help him. Neither man could say who had stabbed the victim or what had happened.

The man was taken to the hospital in serious condition.

A third case which at first appeared to be a stabbing turned out to be something else. Police say a woman was assaulted around 11:10 p.m. Sunday in the 2300 block of Random Road, near Murdock and Grove. She was treated and released from a hospital. There's no word of any arrests.
