Wichita Police are investigating two armed robberies that may be related.
The first happened around 7:15 Saturday night at Harry and Meridian. Sgt. Jim Merrick tells KAKE News that a man had met the suspect to purchase wheels and tires for his car, but instead the suspect pulled out a handgun and left in a silver Pontiac G6 with the victim's $600.
Ten minutes later, a man wearing a ski mask, but with a similar description as the suspect in the earlier robbery, ran into the Phillips 66 at Seneca and McClean. He pointed a handgun at the clerk and demanded money.
The clerk complied and the suspect took the cash that was in the drawer and left westbound on foot. Police say the clerk and witnesses inside the store were not hurt.
The suspect is described as a white or light skinned black male, in his twenties, around 6' 1", weighing 160 pounds . He was wearing a dark colored shirt and blue jeans.
Sgt. Merrick says the man also had tattoos on his arm and some facial hair. Anyone who may have information about the robbery should contact 911 or Crime Stoppers at 267-2111.
