Each moment with her son, Teryn Brown, is precious for Wichita's Tina Green. Her doctors say there might not be many left.

"There's nothing for them to do now, so we just wait," Green said.

After fighting cervical cancer for a year, Tina learned September 8th the treatments weren't working. Her doctors have told the 37-year-old mother her illness is terminal.

"It makes me sad for him but no, I'm not scared myself," Green said.

Rather than face her illness with fear, Green is motivated by it to make each day count.

The center of her world is her son, a Center on the East High School football team.

"He's my number one player and I'm his number one fan," Green said.

Teryn now plays with that support more in mind than ever.

"I just try to do all this stuff with her in my mind," Brown said. "I just try to focus on her more than anything else."

So has the entire East High School football team which essentially has turned into Team Tina Green.

Every player wears a decal on the back of his helmet. The decal, created by Teryn's father, is of the letters "TG," Tina Green's initials.

"It's a pretty big concept in our locker room," Teryn's friend and teammate Elijah Shelite said. "We focus on her and play for her."

Under the lights on a foggy Friday night, not only did the team play for her, they helped honor her and Teryn before the game.

Teryn and his mother were able to walk onto the field with the senior football players for senior night, even though Teryn is a junior. It's a memorable moment, in case Tina isn't there to share that moment next year in her son's true fourth year.

"It's wonderful to be loved by so many people," Green said. "That's the best part of it."

Teryn's father has helped organize a Rock N' Roll benefit show to help raise money for the family. The benefit is scheduled for Thursday, October 25 at 7 p.m. at Little Jeff's Warehouse on North Sycamore.

At any time, you can support the family through a benefit account set up at Intrust Bank. You can donate at any Intrust Bank location, just ask for the Tina Green Benefit Account.
