Wichita Council will discuss water conservation and supply options

WICHITA, Kan.--- Tomorrow, Wichita City Council members will hear a presentation by the Public Works and Utilities Department and will review options on water conservation and new water supplies.

Officials will present strategies for ensuring a stable water supply through 2060. Options include methods for reducing usage through a revamped conservation program and adding new sources of water.

There are nine options for new water supplies and include water from El Dorado Lake, re-using water from bank storage wells in the river, optimizing existing facilities at the Aquifer Storage & Recovery system, or reusing treated waste water.

The workshop is open to the public and will be held after the regular City Council meeting.
