WICHITA, Kan. - A new national ranking computes the safest cities for U.S. driving. Wichita has been climbing in this ranking for several years, and now is in the top 20.

"America's Best Drivers Report" from Allstate has been ranking U,S, cities for ten years. The 2014 rankings released Monday night put Wichita in 16th place, up from 27th in 2013.

The key to this ranking is how often you have a crash. If you're the average Wichita driver, you're likely to go 11.7 years between crashes. The national average is about 9.9 years.

Despite the high ranking, Wichita is only the third safest city in Kansas. The report shows Kansas City, KS is fourth and Olathe is tenth. Wichita still tops Overland Park (#29) and Topeka (#39).

Fort Collins, Colorado repeated its place at the top of the rankings, followed by Brownsville, Texas and Boise Idaho.
