Westar Energy is trying to maintain its level of service while reducing costs of business. And that is leading to layoffs in Topeka, Wichita and other areas of the State.
Westar spokesperson Gina Penzig says Westar will not release how many people are being laid off but says the company is personally notifying employees of the reduction in force.
Penzig tells us....like many other companies, Westar is trying to find
ways to be more efficient and that unfortunately that is going to mean layoffs. She said more will come this year and it could go into 2013.
