Investigators believe weather contributed to a deadly accident in Butler County Tuesday night.

Emergency crews were called to US Highway 54, just southwest of Indianola Road before 9:30. The Butler County Sheriff said a car was driving westbound in the eastbound lanes and struck a van.

The driver of the car, a 39-year-old man from Wichita, died in the crash. His name has not been released. Two people in the van were injured. They've been identified as Billy Weems, 31, of Augusta and Adrian Behm, 15, of Goddard.

The sheriff said visibility was limited by heavy rain. The driver of the car reportedly drove on the wrong side of the highway for a mile before the accident.
