A Wakeeney man died in a crash between two semi trucks in Scott County.

The Kansas Highway Patrol reports the crash happened shortly after 8:30 Wednesday morning on K96 in Scott City. Troopers say a Mack truck driven by Christopher Koger of Ness City was traveling north on Indian Road.

When he crossed K96, he was struck by a westbound Freightliner. The force of the crash knocked Koger's truck onto its top and into the north ditch of K96.

The Freightliner came to rest in the north ditch where it burst into flames. Koger was taken to Scott City Hospital with minor injuries. The driver of the Freightliner, 58-year-old Timothy Smith of Wakeeney died at the scene.
