A Wichita teen suffered minor injuries after her brother demonstrated a shotgun that he thought was unloaded.
It happened around 8:30 p.m. Saturday at a home in the 1900 block of East Pinebay in southeast Wichita.
According to police, an 18-year-old was showing his 14-year-old sister his shotgun in the basement. He didn't think it was loaded, and pulled the trigger while pointing it at the floor.
The pellets ricocheted off the concrete under the carpet, and one of them hit the girl in the leg. Her father took her to a local hospital but her injury was minor.
Police have ruled it an accident and charges aren't expected.
