Cheney, Kan. -- Voters in Cheney have approved a school bond.
The $15.4 bond passed Tuesday evening with 73% of the vote. 752 ballots were cast. of those, 550 voters, voted in favor of the bond issue, which includes safety improvements, and new classroom and facility upgrades.
The bond's approval will mean an increase of approximately seven mills. That translates to roughly $95 more a year in taxes on a $100,000 home or $8 a month.
The bond will pay for security improvements to the school entrances, 3 new FEMA storm shelters and other repairs and facility improvements.
