A man with a long history of stealing from Wichita-area Walmart stores is behind bars, with the help of a veteran, a cab driver, and a retired game warden.
It happened Thursday evening at the Walmart, located at 6110 West Kellogg. Wichita Police say the 46 year-old suspect entered the store and left with $14 worth of merchandise without paying.
An employee yelled robbery, which alerted a Vietnam veteran who was close by. He chased the suspect, tackling him into a snow bank.
Sgt. Bruce Watts says as the suspect struggled to break free, a second man, a cab driver, maced the suspect. A third man, a retired game warden, placed handcuffs on the suspect.
Sgt. Watts said the suspect suffered minor injuries in the struggle. The man had a long history of shoplifting from area Walmart stores and had actually been banned from the building.
