Wichita police are asking for the public's help in keeping people out of the parks after hours.
Wichita Parks and Recreation Department Director Doug Kupper says in the last two years, the number of homeless sleeping in parks has increased. With that, he says comes vandalism and a lot of trash littering the area.
Police officers are assigned to patrol the parks, but often have more serious crimes to work.
"If anybody is in there, homeless or not, it's illegal to be there after hours," said Kupper " When there's illegal activity then police are pulled away to control those circumstances."
Police are asking the community to call them if there are people in the parks between the hours of midnight to 6 a.m.
