VALLEY CENTER, Kan.-- A group of Valley Center High School students have an experiment on a cargo rocket on its way to the International Space Station.
Five students created the experiment that looks at bacteria's resistance to antibiotics in space. Their experiment was chosen to represent Valley Center High School from a pool of 160 proposals.
Their experiment was set to launch on board a rocket last spring but cancellations and delays plagued them until today.
"We've been looking forward to this for a year now," said Garrett Chandler, senior. "The excitement level out of 10 is probably an 11."
The rocket will dock on the space station on Sunday. The students' experiment will be carried out some next month.
When the rocket returns in late February or early March, the students will analyze the results of the experiment and make a conclusion.
