United Way Fundraising Campaign Surpasses Goal

United Way of the Plains surpassed its 2012 fundraising goal, the charity announced Friday.

The 2012 campaign raised $15,601,613, beating the goal of $15.6 million.

Funds will support 88 programs at 35 area nonprofit organizations, focusing on education, income and health. The money raised will also support United Way's 2-1-1 helpline, Volunteer Center and Give Items of Value Program.

The top donors, including corporate and employee contributions, were:

Spirit AeroSystems, Inc. raised $2,000,000
Cessna Aircraft Company raised $1,398,400
Hawker Beechcraft Corporation raised $1,000,000
Cargill raised $730,000
INTRUST Bank raised $461,660
QuikTrip Corporation - Wichita Division raised $319,880
Bombardier Learjet raised $311,000
Via Christi Health raised $300,000
USD 259 Wichita Public Schools raised $251,667
Koch Industries, Inc. raised $244,814
Boeing Defense, Space & Security raised $240,000 (partial)
Dillon Stores $232,368
City of Wichita raised $203,334
Westar/IBEW LU1523 raised $196,946
Davis-Moore Auto Group raised $186,230
Johnson Controls $183,064
Airbus Americas Engineering, Inc. raised $152,375
Wesley Medical Center $150,000
