Wichita, Kan. -- M.C. Mayberry killed once, was paroled, then killed again. Victim's families say not again.

The Kansas Prisoner Review Board, meeting in Wichita, heard from the families of two Hutchinson murder victims. M.C. Mayberry was convicted of both murders.

David Cabral was 16 years old and in the house when Mayberry shot and killed his aunt Anita Cabral and shot her sister Francis Cabral in Hutchinson in 1969. Francis survived.

Cabral says, "Mayberry chased me down but was not able to catch me."

Cabral says a couple years later he too was incarcerated in the same prison as Mayberry. He says Mayberry told him, "If you wasn't so fast you would have been dead to."

But after eleven years in prison and at the recommendation of a psychiatrist Mayberry was granted parole.

Eight years later Mayberry, with a shotgun, kills 36 year old Dixie Long, of Hutchinson, in 1989.

Dixie Long's daughter Brandi, 13 years old at the time, asleep in her basement bedroom didn't hear the shot.

Testifying to the board the now Brandi Henks explains what it was like to find her murdered mother.

Henks says, "And I look at my mother, me not comprehending that she's gone, I shake her and tell her please wake up. Please just wake up. I'm so scared and confused. I just don't know what to do at this point. I'm still not realizing that she's dead."

Mayberry is now 67 and in poor health. But the victim's families say he should stay behind bars.

Cabral says, "Infirm or bad health or not has no bearing."

The board will decide in September on the parole.
