WICHITA, Kan. -- A fight erupted in gunfire late Friday night in northeast Wichita, injuring two victims.
Police were called around 11:15 p.m. to a disturbance outside a building at Central Park Village Apartments in the 1500 block of East 17th Street. When officers arrived, the disturbance moved inside. It was when police went to investigate that the situation turned dangerous.
"They went to knock on the door, and upon doing so a gunshot was heard inside the apartment," said Sgt. J.D. Swanson.
One person came out of the front of the apartment and had an injury to his hand from a gunshot. Several other people went out a back window. Police caught up with them in a field close by. One of them had a gunshot wound to the back of his leg.
The two male victims, ages 23 and 26, were taken to the hospital with injuries that proved to not be serious.
Police are still investigating and no arrests have been made. Some other individuals involved in the disturbance had minor injuries.
