Man Bound Over For Trial In Shooting Death Of 8-Year-Old Girl

The man accused in the shooting death of an 8-year-old Wichita girl has been bound over for trial.

Zachary Gaston, 24, is charged with first-degree murder in Kimbra Moore's death.

He also faces charges of aggravated battery after a bullet grazed another woman, criminal discharge of a firearm and criminal possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.

Trial has been set to begin Jan., 14.

The man accused in a shooting that left an 8-year-old girl dead is in court today.

Kimbra Moore died from a gunshot wound to the head in the early morning hours of September 4th. Police said a stray bullet hit the young girl as she slept inside her south Wichita home near 31st Street South and Broadway.

Shortly after the crime, 24-year-old Zachary Gaston was arrested. Police said he was shooting at a car when the stray bullet hit Moore. Prosecutors later charged him with first-degree murder in the little girl's death.

He also faces charges of aggravated battery after a bullet grazed another woman, criminal discharge of a firearm and criminal possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.

The preliminary hearing for Gaston is underway.
