A Junction City mother and child were killed in an accident Marion County Friday, the Kansas Highway Patrol said. The accident happened on U.S. Highway 56, just south of the Dickinson/Marion county line, or about four miles south of Herington.
Troopers said a car crossed the center line and struck a pickup truck.
Two people inside the car died. Amber Alfred, 20, and Josiah Alfred, 2, were killed in the accident. Brian Alfred, 21, and Keith Johnson, 6, were taken to Via Christi Health-St. Francis for treatment.
Four people in the truck were taken to Herington Hospital--Toby Biehler, 41, Ty Morris, 16, Seth Biehler, 17, all of Herington, and Austin Roberts, 23 of Abilene.
