Two men are in critical condition following an accident Wednesday evening on I-235.

It happened shortly before 5:30 in the northbound lanes of the interstate between K-42 and Kellogg. The Kansas Highway Patrol says 20-year-old Joshua Seipel of Garden Plain was driving southbound when for an unknown reason, he sideswiped a vehicle in the left lane and then crossed over the median into southbound lanes.

Seipel's Jeep then collided with a northbound Oldsmobile.

Seipel and his passenger, 58-year-old James Moore of Eureka where taken by EMS to Via Christi Hospital on St. Francis where they are currently listed in critical condition.

A 2-year-old and 5-month-old in the Oldsmobile were treated at Wesley and released. The driver of the Oldsmobile and the driver of the second vehicle were not seriously hurt.

The exact cause of the crash remains under investigation.
