A man jumps from his truck before it collides with a train in Reno County.

According to a news release from the Reno County Sheriff’s Office, 28-year-old Bronc Kraft, from Abbyville, was going south on Sterling road around 2:00 p.m. Saturday, pulling two stock trailers when he failed to stop his 2011 Dodge truck before reaching the railroad tracks. The tracks are just north of the intersection with K-61.

Bronc jumped from the truck before colliding with the train, in an attempt to get away. The train hit the cab of the truck and Bronc was struck by debris as he ran.

Bronc was taken by a Lifeteam helicopter to Via Christi on St. Francis in serious condition.

Two baby lambs inside the trailers were not injured. All employees in the train were also uninjured.

The Reno County Sheriff’s Office is still investigating the accident.
