Trooper released from hospital after accident

TOPEKA, Kan. A Kansas Highway Patrol trooper was injured this morning after his patrol car was hit by a semi truck.

The crash happened on Highway 24 near Menoken Road in Topeka. The trooper was monitoring traffic in a construction area when a semi came over the hill, failed to negotiate a curve and struck the trooper's patrol car.

Trooper Gregory Kyser, 50, was taken to St. Francis Medical Center in Topeka for treatment. He has been released.

The truck driver, from Covington, Texas, wasn't hurt.
