TONGANOXIE, Kan. (AP) — Authorities say two people have died in a three-vehicle accident in northeast Kansas.
The Kansas Highway Patrol says the wreck occurred Monday evening in rural Leavenworth County. Troopers say a westbound Ford pickup sideswiped the trailer of an eastbound Ford pickup before veering into oncoming traffic. They say that vehicle hit a Chevrolet Suburban head-on and both drivers were killed.
Troopers say the eastbound driver was wearing a seat belt but the westbound driver was not.
The westbound driver who was killed has been identified as 46-year-old Bart H. Kissinger of Oskaloosa.
The eastbound driver who died has been identified as 39-year-old Brandon L. McKinsey of Tonganoxie.
No one else was in either vehicle.
Two people were in the the Ford pickup with the trailer, but neither was hurt.
