ANDOVER, Kan. -- An eight member family performed in a triathlon Saturday morning, all in an effort to keep healthy.
Andrew Porter is a doctor at Via Christi Sports Medicine; he also competes in many triathlons.
Saturday, Porter took his six children and wife on their 4th annual triathlon. His children range in age of 15 weeks to 11 years old.
"We started teaching them how to swim and bike and run...and we just kind of put it all together, something we could do as a family and stay active," Porter said.
Their day started off with laps at the pool and then a nearly two mile bike ride. The triathlon finished with running laps at Andover High School.
At the end of the event, all the kids had medals. Even the 15-week-old had a medal just for watching.
Porter's main goal was to have a family activity that keeps he and his family happy and healthy, a goal that he says was accomplished Saturday.
