ARLINGTON, Kan. -- A man in his 70s was taken to the hospital after a train collided with his SUV Saturday morning in Reno County.
It happened around 10:15 a.m. at K-61 and Broadway in Arlington. That's about 20 miles southwest of Hutchinson.
Sheriff Randy Henderson said the train operator hit the emergency brakes after seeing a car crossing the tracks. It missed that car but collided with the SUV driving behind in.
The driver was taken to an area hospital for observation.
Henderson said it was initially thought the train had derailed, but only two of the cars came uncoupled.
Henderson said more information would be provided later in the day.
