An overnight crash left serious damage at a northeast Wichita intersection, leading police to block it through morning rush hour and possibly until noon Thursday.
A car crashed into a utility pole at 9th and Hillside around 12:45 a.m. The driver wasn't injured, but the pole estimated at 70 feet tall came crashing to the street.
Police blocked the intersection with squad cars, as four Westar Energy trucks arrived at the scene. But one worker told KAKE News the required replacement pole was not in Wichita, and had to be brought in from another location.
Drivers are urged to avoid the area of 9th and Hillside until further notice.
